Day 14 - Now is the Time: What did God say?

Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. Proverbs 16:3 (AMP)

By now, I hope you’ve either set your 2019 goals, or are, at the very least, thinking about setting them. But you may have missed a step- we can’t be believers and not pray about and commit our goals to God. He’s running the show. You don’t just create and make up assignments or projects and then hope your boss is okay with it once you put it into action; you consult her/him first, then begin the process.

I’m not saying you can’t think of goals on your own, and really, if the Spirit dwells in you, He’s guiding you anyway. But we, as Christians, seriously need to get out of the habit of just going through life without speaking to God. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].” (AMP) We have lost sight of the importance of aligning our plans with the Word, and most of the time, we’re just out here doing whatever we want regardless of what God has said. Then, we want to complain about things not going our way.

I can hear 2012-Amanda asking “well, how do I know that God is speaking to me and this is where I am supposed to be?” STOP OVERTHINKING. If you are a believer, understand that He already dwells within you. And He has given you something amazing called discernment. Call it intuition, call it a “funny feeling”, or whatever you want, it’s still The Spirit speaking. We choose whether we want to listen or ignore, but I can tell you from experience that ignoring is NOT the way to go.

I have spent far too much of my life running from what God told me to do, both knowingly and unknowingly. I often think about how much easier my life may have been if I had stepped into obedience a little sooner. The problem is, we often don’t understand how rewarding being obedient to His will is until we find a reason to stop resisting. And that reason is usually a rock-bottom, no-where-to-go place of desperation. But take it from me, start obeying before the category 5 storm comes. From the smallest goals to your biggest desires, submit them to God. He’s the best to present them to, because He knows you and what your capabilities and flaws are. He won’t put you out there alone and unprepared. We just have to be obedient to what He tells us.

Food for Thought: Have you prayed over and submitted your goals to God? Stop the press and do it before taking any more steps forward!
